in an exclusive environment it would be no problem, but from what I gathered this batch should run while others acessed the tables / apps as usual concurrently - removing tags might create some problems there <bg>. IF one decides a certain process HAS to run at night, chances are that by specifically locking files the whole operation is markedly faster and tricks as removing and later recreating tags are easier to swallow.
