The only time it came out of pocket was to see what time it was. So, I was paying a $100 a month for a digital watch. I dropped the service, bought a pocket watch, and now I am saving $1200 every year.

I just keep mine in case my car breaks down, essentially, or for the odd occasion. But I've got a "pay-as-you-go" one, no tarrif or contract - just pre-pay so much and use it up, so no waste.
