I believe you have to pass a description to the node of a treeview. If you want the user to change the description of the node, either put in text as "Type name here" or make sure you text is filled before adding it to the treeview.
Your problem can also mean that your view doesn't allow empty rows. It could be that by loading the view into the treeview you change record pointers and the view doesn't accept an empty record.
