Is it possible that some backup facility is keeping the file 'in use'?... Or possibly some virus chaecking software or ?????
I don't know how you check what might have the file open, but I do know that much software for this kind of thing reports only network users, not local users. The API "NetFileEnum()" for example.
It seems worth asking if the table in question might have an(other) alias assigned in the DE too. Seems the rare program to me that wouldn't do a SELECT
from time-to-time.
If it's not some external program I'd put a filtered result set at the top of the list of suspects.
