Yep, that works, though I still have to destroy the grid first. As soon as I left the grid in place, it blew again. And I have to Use Again after zapping, because anything used again can't be zapped - open in another workarea.

And this is just a little utility that I'm writing for myself. Can't imagine what will it do elsewhere where... well, there I have a CREATEd cursor, not a Select --- readwrite one. Which worked perfectly in VFP8, and haven't tried it in VFP9 yet. There the framework zaps the cursor for each document.
