My main responsibility will be working on the backlog of change and enhancement requests for an app written in VFP 8 with a SQL Server backend. The app was written by a guy who is actually a manager and wants to spend more of his time on strategic planning instead of coding. It is used by nurses on our staff who are on the phone all day gathering information from people who have applied for health or life insurance. We are outsourced by several major insurers to do this work on their behalf. Sometimes the applicant just didn't fill out the application completely. Other times it's more like they are taking the applicant's complete medical history. That's why the users are nurses, not clerical personnel. (Yes, it's true, I am now surrounded by nurses). A couple of the users are doctors who were MDs in other countries and are waiting for their U.S. certification. It's a pretty sophisticated, well written app that has some interesting UI aspects since it is used in real time while the nurses are on the phone with applicants (or in some cases doctor's offices).
