I thought it's stable like house of cards, but it seems to endure all the things I tried to torture it. Still, it doesn't allow any of my classes to be used for AddColumn - it's always the default and only the default.

I've taken your advice regarding this, agreed it's just an elegant workaround, and used it ever since. And it's quick enough, so I won't complain. Though, I'd really love to have the name of default classes for members (headers, columns, pages, buttons) of container classes available as a property at design time.
