Thanks, Christof. That's very interesting to know. However, I'm not sure that is the problem here. This is on a local drive, the attributs of the parent folders are not system or hidden and have not changed, and the same exact code was executing, so why would it work sometimes and then later decide to throw an error?

That code ignores hidden and system files making VFP assume that the directory does not exist. Hence, the error. You can see this pretty good with FILEMON from sysinternals.
