The current administration has made lying and deception an art form. If we are to compare current events to past events, I believe we need to start with Dragan's comparison's.

The administration is headed, and has been for some time, down a path that other countries have been down. And the end of the path wasn't a pretty place.

>I don't recall any administration discussing hypothetical situations - in fact, you typically hear 'we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.'
>
>Typically, such things are NOT discussed for the sole purpose of not causing the hypothetical action to occur. It could set the very thing you are trying to avoid in motion.

>There is that very huge problem here between keeping the American people informed so that they maintain confidence in their government and avoiding giving too much information out and setting things into motion that could have been avoided.

>For instance, there usually are SF units on the ground 1-2 years before any conflict occurs. They work on teaching locals how to gather information, communicate, disseminate information (including propaganda), even fight. The goal is typically to avoid a major conflict not start one though. Sometimes they are simply there to observe. Yet that knowledge is never provided to the public - in fact, the first units in are always reported to be the Rangers or the Marines. However, those are the first fighting force to arrive, not those who have been onsite for so long in advance.

>>The reason for discussing hypotheticals is to show you've thought thru the possibilities.
>>
>>The current administration has show a propensity to ignore differing opinions. Especially anything that describes scenarios that don't agree with their vision.
>>
>>Hence, we have thousands dying in a civil war in Iraq that the administration won't even acknowledge is occurring. You can't fix a problem if you don't acknowledge it even exists.
>>
>>>>In this video, Condi Rice dicusses how civil war in Iraq is just a hypothetical and doesn't need to be discussed.
>>>
>>>Hypotheticals don't need to be discussed publicly by the Secretary of State. What purpose would it serve?
