Yes, that's true, but much of what you get between an Lexus an Kia is intangible. How do you quantify things like, "I feel better driving it" or "It's more comfortable".
Comparing purchase price of two cars and using estimated MPG * gas prices is easily quantifiable.
But, I fully recognize that part of buying a car is "what feels right".
