You can't expect Microsoft to do it all for you. And I would suggest that Microsoft is not the right place where this sort of development should happen. Microsoft lives in a dream world when it comes to business needs most of the time when it comes to developer tools.

Microsoft is not good at this sort of thing - any of the frameworks Microsoft has come up with to date and apparently is still struggling with have been nearly unusable...

We'll see what becomes of the entity framework that goes with DLINQ but from what I've seen so far it won't be anything to get excited about.
