I'm playing around using Windows Server 2003 R2 EE as a desktop/workstation. I've installed FireFox 1.5.0.6 which generally works fine except where (some) plugins are needed:

- Windows Media Player - this was not automatically registered when FF was installed. The only info I've found on the Web suggests reinstalling Windows Media Player. However, this does not appear to be possible - R2 has WMP 10 (effectively, post-Server 2003 SP1) and I can't find an installation package for it. Uninstalling/reinstalling FireFox didn't help.

- QuickTime - I installed this after FF, it *should* have registered its plugin automatically, but didn't. I've always had trouble with QuickTime with FF, even when I was still running W2K Pro.

Can anyone recommend a good FF plugin troubleshooting site (the ones I've seen don't go beyond "reinstall WMP/QT" etc.)?

I'm thinking that registering a plugin "simply" means writing information to a configuration file somewhere, and/or possibly the Windows registry. If I can't get what I need from a troubleshooting site, can anyone recommend a site that shows how to manually (or programmatically) register a plugin? TIA.
