Well, since it's probably the NSA doing the intercepting and that hasn't been a very popular thing in some quarters in this country, I'm not surprised that some parts of the media might not emphasize it. I was surprised to see it in the Time article, in fact. :-)

That's probably the case, since the government didn't want the terrorist wiretapping programs exposed (to preserve their effectiveness).
