>>I would like the combobox (in drop down list mode) to behave like the search function in the Windows help. This means, I would like it to follow what I type (like it does with incremental search on) but not have it be time-based. That is, not have to type at a certain speed for this to work. Is there a way to do this with the regular combo box?

Ooops. Not with dropdown list mode. And unfortunately needs an exact match with this way. Setting _dblclick to an extreme value (max 5.5 secs) at gotfocus and to default 0.5 at lostfocus maybe helpfull. Or you might completely disable incremental search and control it in interactivechange (coordinating textbox+grid might be more effective).
