I use Camtasia Studio and love it. As with any video app, lots of RAM and a fast CPU make for a better experience, but I've used it with no problems on a machine with only 512MB memory. To give it a fair evaluation be sure you're using version 3.x. The current version is 3.1.2 (I think).
