Oh, I saw lots more, but that drive from Jasper down to Banff just seemed to stay with me. the problem with it is that by the end of the drive, you feel completely washed out. It's almost too spectacular. Every sight is a postcard.

Yes, when you're in the mountains, it is truly spectacular. Probalby the drive stayed with me more because it was my first real exposure to the whole area, and when you aren't expecting it, it's overwhelming. After that, you kind of have an idea what may be coming, and as incredible as it is, it's not absolutely new; if I'm making any sense at all.

When I die, I want my ashes spread over the Okanagan Valley (but not the kitschy, touristy areas).

>>Oh, yes! When I lived in Edmonton, we used to go to Banff or Jasper almost every weekend. the drive between the two through the park system is almost too incredible to bear. I swear it'll burn your eyes out of their sockets within the first 2 hours. Every corner you turn (and there is no straight road) surprises you with a vista more beautiful than the last.

>Yes that's true, but it sounds like you missed most of it! There's tons more, and even more spectacular, between Banff and the west coast.

>I did it by train in 1969 and I couldn't believe there were such beautiful sights in the world.

>>>British Columbia is one the most beautiful places on earth. If you ever the opportunity to visit - do. I've never had the opportunity to see the area in Canada were "Open Range" was filmed but hope to one day.

>>>>I've never been to Ontario. My only trips to Canada have been to Montreal for DevTeach. One of these days I'll have to make it to Toronto.

>>>>I've heard some Oliver Jones, though I don't own any of his albums. Has he done anything beyond the trio? Aside from some McCoy Tyner material, I've usually preferred standard quartets/quintets.
