>The time has come to admit that the mother of all ills in the Arab world is the absence of a secular alternative that has the power to offer people a different way of thinking. An option that is an alternative to the one offered by political Islam. It is not the Israeli occupation that needs to be ended, but rather the fanatic religious occupation of the Arab-Muslim intellect, which is blocking the masses from the pleasure of thinking.

The fatwa will be issued in 3...2...1...

Personally, I have very little hope that without a very bloody conflict, this way of thinking will never become the norm in Islamic society. It took centuries for Catholics and Protestants to learn to deal with each other; I think the ravages of the Thiry Years War was the beginning of the end, but the two divisions are still duking it out in Irelend. It's niave to hope that the Sunni and Shia will do any better in that regard. Throw in the absolute, undisguised hatred of the West into the mix, and we have the makings for another decades-long war. (I think I've posted this before, but check out this very short and chilling story regarding The Century War).

JMHO. Value at price charged.
