He sure has been in the news a lot lately for a dead man, hasn't he? I happened to be in the car driving a couple of Saturdays ago when the Hall of Fame inductions were held. Flipping through radio stations, Reggie's widow was speaking in Canton. When his bust was unveiled there was a silence. It wasn't until I read it later that I knew she and his son, who also spoke at the ceremony, broke down at that moment. Whoever made that bust must have done a pretty good job. 43 years old -- WAY too soon.

Then Chuck Bednarik, the old Eagle linebacker, was in the news for blasting Reggie White and then retracting it. Chuck is getting up there, 80 or so now, and apparently his faculties aren't what they once were. The helmets weren't too thick back when he played and he wasn't shy about using his, as Frank Gifford can attest. When asked about Reggie White after the HOF ceremony he first said I didn't like him, there was just something about him I despised. It turned out he was confusing Reggie White with Terrell Owens. To his credit, he subsequently apologized.
