>Case 3: Upcoming 2006 elections. I dunno about other states but here in Florida the main Dem theme is "I like this, I like that, and I HATE Bush!". I mean, c'mon. Be real. Will this strategy work anywhere that's not already heavily Democratic? Does this appeal to the mainstream moderate? Of course not.

I do not know if/where it will work, but it sounds like a reasonable strategy. You say what you like and what you don't and if that matchs what the voters like and don't like then they maybe willing to vote for you. The republican strategy not that different. "I like this, I like that, and I HATE (cut and runners/flip-floppers/gays/science/immigrants)." The key is they are able to get the voters worked by attaching a hot button issue to the race. They feed off of voters fears, not positive messages or plans for making this a better nation.

>If you don't believe me, go to your local Senate or Gubernatorial Democratic candidates website. Find me one, ONE, that doesn't cast aspersions on Bush. And then explain to me how that message sells in a moderate America.

This is the only one I checked and I see nothing about Bush: http://www.hatch2006.org/

>What is wrong with these people? ....but what we have now is a bunch of whiny, negativistic drones who are going nuts with ways to demonize the other guys and are not highlighting positive alternatives. ... I see them as a jackbooted, intolerant, crazy crowd who would trade this country for their power. I'd love to be wrong.

I would be interested in your reasons for thinking they are "jackbooted" and "intolerant". I do not agree with any of your generalized attacks but these two strike me as more remarks that would fit more with the party in power. Please explain.
