>>>If you don't believe me, go to your local Senate or Gubernatorial Democratic candidates website. Find me one, ONE, that doesn't cast aspersions on Bush. And then explain to me how that message sells in a moderate America.

>"While the President pays lip service to alleviating our dependence on oil and diversifying our energy portfolio, his actions belie his rhetoric. He talks, for example, about the need to fund renewable energy research, yet his most recent energy bill provided over $6 billion in tax breaks for oil companies and billions more for the nuclear industry. The President talks about the importance of energy conservation, yet he cut funding for programs to help low-income families better insulate their homes and opposed raising fuel economy standards. "

My favorite indication of how the president feels towards issues related to energy independence is:

"The loophole would allow someone who buys an $102,581 Hummer H1 for “business purposes” to deduct $87,135 from his taxes immediately. Seriously. Good deal if you can get it".

Now if we could have just taken a few billion dollars from the war in Iraq and put it towards energy independence, we would be at least doing something for our future and the future of the world.
