>hmmmm...oddly enough, I've never used teh textmerge() gizmo. I decided to look in the VFP help at the command and I really didnt get it. Can you point me to a coupla examples of how this command works?

Tracy gave you a link to Cetin's message and I can't improve on that. Just want to mention that strtran() is great for basic replace but textmerge is some very powerful stuff for building some pretty complex text for form letters etc. You can give users memo fields to play with and a cbo that inserts "field" place holders ( sort of like Word does mailmerge templates ) and then use the text from those memo fields - after being processed through textmerge - as body text in letters that are foxpro frxs. In this way users can create their own letters, and use data from the app.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
