I'm just getting into MSSQL the whole idea of not using VFP's databases/tables anymore.

My main question I have is, is there a mechanism in MSSQL that will allow me to do things like Do-While/Scan-Endscan Loops, going record by record and modifying each record that falls under some sort of criteria that I decide upon?

Is this sort of thing done with stored procedures (something I haven't done yet), or do I have to completely rewire my thinking here? I've only used vfp tables (not views, I know I need to start). But I'd like to know how I would modify a ton of data at once using a MSSQL backend...

Thanks for any help you can give me here.
