>I'm trying to setup a brand new WinXP pro box, and both VFP8 install and VFP8 SP1 went fine. But VFP9 is being a total PITA!!! I cant get past the step 1 prerequistes, and keeps telling me it wants to install "Setup Runtime Files" and "Soap Toolkit 3.0" again and again. Turned off my firewall, virus checker and shut everything down dbl checked I was logged in as administrator - still no VFP9 for rox.

>I tried going thru the DVD and running these component install separate from the installer and still no good. Also tried the Run cmd Setup.exe /NO_BSLN_CHECK trick from the moreinfo.html documentation to bypass prerequisites - still nada, and even that only gives me the option do step 1 prerequisites. Even tried installing the components it didnt think I needed in hopes it was just confused. And I confirmed soap toolkit 3.0 is definitely there, it was in my control panel add/remove programs before I started this exercise in utter futility.

>I've repeated all the above atleast twice using msdn dvd and either it just aint liking my new Dell laptop or the VFP9 install pkg just flat out sucks. I even downloaded the stinking install fresh to eliminated bad dvd possibility and repeated all of the above a few more times on disk. nope, no way no how, no VFP9 for rox. Likewise downloaded all the major components separately and tried running those version instead of what's in the extracted iso files. Needless to say I have just about lost my patience here and I am quite ready to stick the VFP9 dvd to my dart board and take aim.

>about the only thing i havent tried is uninstalling VFP8 and loading VFP9 firstly (sigh) but the dart board idea seems much more appealing at this point. anyone got any other suggestions? TIA!

A couple off-the-wall:

- delete files in your temp folder
- go into RegEdit and manually blow away any keys/values that look VFP9-related from HKCU and HKLM
- related to #2 above, there is a file on the VFP9 install media that says what to do if the machine had a previous install of the VFP9 beta. Not directly applicable in your case, but it might give you some ideas

Long time no see here! Whatcha been doing?
