I usually handle this scenario with a page frame on a form. Page 1 would have a Grid with a limited number of columns that the user would use to select detailed data on the 2nd Page. At the top of page 1 I put a textbox that the user can use to search whichever column is being sorted on the grid. The Add,Save, and Canel buttons are on the form below the pageframe.

I did one like this in MM version 1 a couple of years back.
