VFP5 is not slower than VFP3. But there are a number of things that could make a grid very slow. From a change VFP3 to VFP5 first one that comes to mind is the changed "debugger". With debugger on, grids are exeptionally slow. Check if debugger is on and keep it closed when dealing with grids.
