hOW DO I edit foxrun.pif

I did a CD home()
modi file foxrun.pif
but then the file does not look like a standard text file, it's one
long line, left to right, and the characters have lots of little
squares between them. I changed command.com to cmd.exe but now I get
an invalid foxrun.pif file error
