You hit the nail on the head. Maybe one of these isn't so bad, but these days it seems we've all got so many anti-this and anti-that programs running, along with all the stuff that automtically checks for updates every so often, that I sometimes feel like I'm an unwelcome intruder if I try to use the machine to actually do something productive. It's like the machine is saying, "Leave me alone, I'm busy taking care of myself here!"
>Hi Rick, pmfji, but although Spy Sweeper is rated very highly I don't use it even though I bought a copy. What I don't like about it is that it loads a service at Windows start which periodically is doing something which visibly (in task manager) consumes cpu cycles. It becomes yet another program that wants to run all the time and, imo, consumes too much cpu for my liking. I also agree with the best of breed approach. Bloatware is all too easy to achieve :)
