Tore, since you cc me on this post let me be clear - I apologized to Perry on the assumption that his intended message was as he restated:

>My entire point was the vast majority of large dev teams are not using VFP. Therefore you should enquire of those using other tools to determine best practice. End-of-Story.

If that was the true intention of his message then it is fair enough. I can accept that at face value and I assume I misunderstood the original post. If there is more to it than this then he is free to expand on that.

I do agree, though, that we all have different styles in writing and perhaps some come across more agressive than others. I think this is in the nature of the medium and one must give benefit of the doubt where possible.

>Perry,
>
>I re-read your message, and repeat it here for reference:
>I think there is very little to good team practices that is language specific. I also think that the nature of the beast of Visual FoxPro is that you are very much in the minority as the usuage of Visual FoxPro in large corporations is very small. At least 80% of the Visual FoxPro programmers I've come in contact work with at most 1 or 2 others. And many times by themselves.
>
>I think you would be best served soliciting opinions in other forums and adapting their practices to your needs.

>
>My point, and the reason why I and some other people react, is that when you say something, you are often very offensive. You choose your own words, and you have a tendency to add "smart "comments which upset a lot of us, and which have no other meaning that exactly that, namely to upset and offend. But when you leave these extra comments out of the summary you later refer to, you show what a "chicken" you really are.
>
>If you really ment to say what you proclaim that you said, you should simply have said something like "To be best served I suggest that you also solicit opinions in other forums and in other development platforms, and adapt their practice to your needs". If those words came from you, I would be the first to agree and salute you. But, the rest of what you say is completely and absolutely irrelevant, and changes the total meaning of what you really say completely.
>
>You definetily deserve no apology.

>>Tore,

>>Jos has already apologized to me, once he realized when I meant. Why don't you speak when spoken to, and stay out of conversations that are above your level?
>>
>>>>I know. But I'm amazed at the pettiness they exude. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I never once said anything to the effect of using another language.

>>>>My entire point was the vast majority of large dev teams are not using VFP. Therefore you should enquire of those using other tools to determine best practice. End-of-Story.
>>>
>>>Perry, I will present an analogy, but I really don't think you are smart enough to understand. What if I my car has a diesel engine, and I want to hear tips from other users of diesel engines. Since there are so few users of diesel engines, would you suggest that I should talk to users who have cars with regular gas driven engines instead?
>>>
>>>When I wrote that I don't think you are smart enough, I was not referring to your intelligence, but to your smartness which a completely different thing. Show me wrong, accept that you have upset a few people (as usual), and step oyt of this thread.
>>>
>>>>John Ryan seems to think that if you don't have anything specific to add to VFP and large teams keep your trap shut. Which is entirely missing the point.

You're wasting your time trying to interject anything other that vfp into these discussions. they are very happy in their little pond where they can make the rules, and God forbid, they try to expand their horizons.

>>>>>>What the heck is it with you guys. I never once suggested that this question was unacceptable, never once suggested that he should not use VFP.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>My only suggestion was that in large corporate environments that employ teams of greater then 10 on a project, the tool is rarely VFP, and he would probably get more input into large team development asking in other forums.

>>>>>>Its not a he said/she said type of comment, not a comment to incite. Just a statement of facts. Prove me wrong, fine. The comment was based on many years experience.
