What version of MM .NET are you using? In older versions of MM .NET, the Business Layer Generator tried to access the database specified in your app.config or web.config file as soon as you hit the Next button on the Specify the Code Generation Settings page. If this is the case, check your connection string in your config file to make sure it's correct for your instance of SQL Server.
