The pre-compiling process, whenever we update a component, is much too complicated. In-place compilation only consists of uploading the new component which is much easier. I understand that when a site goes in production there shouldn't be that much of new updates. But, we still prefer it like that as it is also much easier for the staff to take over the project once delivered.
