Actually aren't the SQL views local on the server ? In any case my understanding of the indexed view is that the aggregate totals for example would be maintained dynamically by the database as the tables involved were changed. Hence, when you asked for those totals as part of a remote view *no* further processing would be necessary - much as an index knows a rows location without a further sort. If the remote view were asking for an aggregate value, the value would have to be calculated on demand.
