Never say never, I always say ...

My "Red Screen of Death", which appears when a user gets an unrecoverable error (which I save for inspection), is already a very annoying screen to the user. Of course, my hope is that no user ever needs to see it ... but when they do, there is one line of text which does flash every second.

Windows design guidelines, after all, are only guidelines. (By the way, and I do not mean this facetiously, where can I get a list of the Windows design guidelines?)
