Well, I did several things so I'm not sure which was the actual solution. I changed all my memo fields to character. Then I made sure that every field in the table was on the edit screen. Then I added an UpdateSelectStatement to the business object, although it was just "SELECT * FROM Personnel". I don't understand how that would be better than what's in the entity object but it worked, so I guess I won't complain.
