Hello Paige, Francois,
My needs were a little different, very simple and are as follows.
1. I had to give the user the capability to *scan* in a little book with about 500 pages.
2. When a customer calls up, depending on the caller's specific information 1 or more of the scanned pages would be *displayed* on the screen. Being that the scanned page had tiny fonts the user needed the capability to zoom in.
3. If the transaction goes through the images mentioned in step 2 would be printed as a FoxPro report and mailed to the caller.
Being that the caller was on line, it had to be very quick so I elected not to store the images in general fields but as seperate .bmps with with files names being *pageno*.bmp that step 1 took care of. For example in a loop the module requested 'Please place page *n* into scanner and click the scan button' etc. and saved the file with that pagenum, also being that FoxPro reports can only print .bmp images I have not tried any other image types besides .bmps.
This app is installed on Win95 machine, and is currently running without a problem - others had problems with running in NT, and/or other image types.
If I would have other image type needs, I would look into the 'ESPIA' controls and compare differences in licensing arrangements between that and WANG (professional)
