Hi Mike.

It is minutely possible that a 10% growth on the log would account for the increase in size. How big is the log file to begin with and how many times has the file grown? If you have taken several measurements that all show an increase in the log file size over the previous measurement, then the 10% is not the problem.

As a side note, unless you expect your # of transactions to accelerate, it is better to set the the growth to a fixed amount rather than a percentage.

Have you checked the recovery model for the database and have you confirmed that there is a maintenance plan that includes backups or log shipping followed by a DBCC SHRINKDATABASE? This discussion is academic until those two settings are confirmed.
