Hi,
If it is a client requirement that the exe is run from the network, then it is an absolute requirement that the client fix the network problem.

When a network disconnect occurs in this situation the client has lost communication with the exe i.e. you the programmer has lost control all together, there is nothing you can do.

We had the same problem in the early days when the client would get their supposed guru son or relative or backyarder to supply the hardware and setup the network to save on costs.

You will have to draw a line in the sand and state that any further network related issues will be chargeable and that they need a Network Engineer to audit the system and implement the required changes, otherwise you will expend enormous amounts of time trying to fix the unfixable.

Also the level of Technical Expertise in the Marketplace can also somewhat lacking, if you require someone locally that knows what they doing I can give you the number of our Melbourne Tech support team.

>The client has a rule that the EXE should be on the network as it is then easier to upgrade.
>I too prefer to have it on the local drives.
