One of the truly great things about VFP is that is was almost an open source community long before there was an open source community - in the current sense. Since FoxPro was always such a niche language what developers did exist and knew each other have always been keen to collaborate.
In some ways I think we do so because if we can help another person deliver a truly fantastic high quality solution for a client then it helps to evangelise the language in the market. That... and a product of us all just being a great bunch of people :-)
