>>The Carolina-Atlanta game was just too depressing to even think about! Talk about a turnaround from the 44-11 of last January... 89 yards offense in the first half?? What was that????

>>It's called, "No Steve Smith".

>>I flipped over to that game when it became obvious the Chiefs were going to lose (I have the Sunday NFL Ticket). Panthers looked as weak as the Chiefs.
>>
>>Be wary of the Bears - I think they're out to prove that last year was no fluke. I saw two HUNGRY teams yesterday....Bears and Ravens.

>The Bears' defense is among the elite, possibly #1, and I think they are a lock to win their division. (Packers, Lions, Vikings; Packers, Lions, Vikings....). They will go as far as their offense takes them. They looked good against the Packers, but as you say in another message, lots of teams are going to look good against the Packers. Their passing game in particular is unproven until it can put together a few good games, not just one. And Rex Grossman has to stay healthy, even after picking up the adequate Brian Griese in the offseason.

You can see it in the body language of the other offensive players that they are more confident with Grossman in there.

I heard recently (don't recall the source) that Tom Landry felt Craig Morton was a better passer than Roger Staubach. But the players had more confidence in Staubach and played harder for him, which made Staubach the better quarterback.
