I think most people (who know) do care but the two events are not comparable in their nature. The one was a catastrophic event broadcast around the world in real time. The other is a toll spread over many years in a war zone. The one was completely unexpected. The other one is expected in war to one degree or another. Both are awful and the consequences will be with us all for a long time.
