If the client has your app then you could add the code to your app to export the dbf to xls format for the client and then use automation to open the file...
or
From Excel Menu:

Data
Import External Data
Import Data
Select Fiels of type: Dbase Files (*.dbf)
Locate the file and click on Open

>>>Hi. How can I open a VFP dbf with Excel 2003?
>>>
>>>TIA.
>>
>>At the risk of catching flak from others for not actually answering your question, do you have Foxpro? You could more easily save the dbf as an xls file.
>
>Thanks. This is for a client that does not have VFP.
