You don't want to do it programmatically, right? If so then IMHO using VFPOLEDB is better than using ODBC.
From menu:
Data\Import external data\Import data
When it pops for a source click "New Source"
Select "Other/Advanced" from tht list and click "Next"
You would see the Datalink properties dialog with VFPOLEDB listed as a provider. Supply needed info. Once you do that it saves in an .ODC file and next time you directly use that .ODC (office data connection file - an HTML file in fact which you might write and edit with notepad if you want).
