>It seems that I am just destined to live near bears. I have had 3 encounters with bears so far in my life (too manY). The two sightings are roughly 15 miles apart and then it is mostly metro in between so it's hard to believe it is the same bear. Luckily this one I haven't encountered personally (yet) but the 2nd bear sighting was 2 blocks from my home:

We don't have bears but...........

We live by a creek which is home to a flock of wild turkeys. They eat and drink from our bird feeders (they're birds, but not quite what we had in mind). I also learned that "The Big Guy" (WKRP) was right....turkeys can fly.

We frequently have deer walking in the woods behind the fence. Our neighbor has an apple tree which is quite, umm, fruitful. They don't use the apples and frequently just toss them over the fence to feed the deer.

A raccoon crawled under our deck to have her babies. They (the babies) have just emerged for the first time and we're hoping they are now ready find a better place to live.

I haven't seen or heard any, but a co-worker tells me that there a lots of coyote in his part of town.

I married into a farm family, but this is all a bit too much for a Jewish kid from New York City.
