>Long time back I had read that on creating an Index with expression DELETED() speeds up the query (reports). We tried that & is giving lot of problems (in a stable application) like not recognising the cursor ( but table is fine), SELECT-SQL is behaving strangly ( unchanged code since 2 years).

Whether an index on deleted() will speed up your query or not, depends on how many records are selcted in relation to the total number of records. In some case it can slow down the query considerably, so the general recommendation is NOT to include such a tag. However, with VFP9 this is no longer a problem, because you have a new binary index type.
