It is a pain, I'll grant you that. But as with all things human, there are trade-offs and compromises either way. I do miss WinForms programming, though. It's less messy. Developing for the web I'm supposed to know not only C# or VB.NET, but also JavaScript, HTML, CSS, the rendering differences of multiple versions of web browsers, etc.
Now I'm a bit depressed as ASP.NET is about all I do.
