For a part it is not contradicting the interview, namely whether the current state in iraq is not bad for the majority of citizens.
The other part, optimism of democracy is a bit ill decribed and cannot be proven or disproven, though the signs we get up here are not too hopefull as already many people discribing a civil war.
Futher it does not address the blunders stated in the interview, esspecialy about guarding the yellow cake, high quality explosives, the national museum, etc. In short, I don't see the article disproving the point of the interview
