Have spacesuit will travel" is for young readers. I don't know if 7 yrs old, maybe 10/12. Wonderful book to open young minds.
Also, just remembered, when I was a kid I loved to read the
Hardy Boys series, and (dating myself),
Emilio Salgari's wonderful Pirate books (Sandokan, Corsair Pirates), and Edgar Rice Burroughs's Tarzan books, and anything by Jules Verne.
