I have a strange situation when trying to make a copy of the Web site environment from one server to another. The new server is Windows Server 2003. It has the same structure as the previous server. Under the site root, I have a Temp directory. From the application, I can create a file in there. This works well. But, also under the root, I have a data directory. In that directory is stored Visual FoxPro data files. The connection string is ok. When I try to execute any type of command that would write into a file, this simply does not work. What I can understand is that no error is being returned. The code continues as is. I never seen anything like that. And, of course, when looking at the files on disk, they remained unchanged.
I went into the ASP.NET panel of the site and put an administrative account just to be sure this was not a factor. It is not. Also, as I mentioned, it is possible to create file under that structure. So, this does not seem to be a factor. However, I just cannot write into an file in there.
