I did say the following:
That is because people don't want to see the truth. They want to see confirmed in what they believe is the truth. Anyone telling otherwise, despite the huge amount of evidence or facts, is ignored.

This is not only applicable to americans, but to people in general. Everyone has a believe and searches the facts to support their believes. You, I, Americans, Dutch, Turks, cristians and muslim are subject to it.

Government bodies, intelectuals and media have the task in putting everything into perspective so that we 'normal people' are exposed to other voices. This in general is a problem in muslim countries (I guess turkey might be one of the few exceptions), esspecially ruled by church like Iran, as the counterweigths of an objective government and media are missing. Intellectuals often are imprissoned or otherwise suppressed.

The US, is guilty of this matter as well. With their money driven society where the press is not independed anymore, and the current administration it is very hard for the average american to have balanced view of the facts: They are not corrected by their government because every argument is taken into a democrat/republican issue. The remaining source, the intellectuals, are not heard as they have a too weak voice.
