Nah! My younest, just 7, has been read these for some 2 years, saw the film over 1 year ago (and regularly watches the DVD).
As well as all the Lord of the Rings films.
Maybe she gets brave watching them with her older sister but she (now 10) wasn't scared of the 1st Lord of the Rings film.
I don't know if they're exceptions though.
