Well she began to read just after starting school at 5 but not to the extent of reading Lemony Snicket. No, it's my use of flexible English: ".. has
been read these for some 2 years" (passive case), not "... has read". iow, we have read them to her.
"I have read a book" - vs - "a book has been read to me" -> "I've been read a book"
